Our Story & Our Culture

OUR CULTURE

Team Culture:

“You can’t explain it, you have to feel it.” – Surbhi, Blueprint Therapist

There’s an energy that permeates the halls of 73 West End that is difficult to put into words but is clearly present from the moment you walk through our door. It is the product of 13 human beings who have come together to have a positive impact on humanity, a team of clinicians who love and care for one another and project that love onto their clients, and a team that is clinically minded but practice from their HEARTS. We believe that when you practice from your heart…the mind will follow.

We call this being HEART-STRONG.

Client Culture:

The team culture we referenced above trickles down to what it feels like to be a client at Blueprint. As a client, you can be confident that the person sitting across from you on the couch deeply cares about how you’re doing and what you’re going through. All of our clinicians were hired because of their natural ability to connect but they are also some of the most clinically driven therapists on the planet. What this results in is some of the best therapeutic interventions you can receive but in a way that feels casual, organic, and at times, not feel like therapy at all. We promise to be the most authentic versions of ourselves with you, to admit when we don’t know something, and to accept you for who you are in the moment, while also guiding you through change to be the best version of yourself.

We promise to…

*Take our time and be all in with you.
*Be honest with you and help you to be honest with yourself
*Help you figure out what’s going on and find strategies and skills to change what you can and cope with what you can’t
*Do the right thing and make sure your needs are being met.
*Be 100% real with you

We will NOT:

*Judge you or your choices.
*String you along and keep you coming in if we don’t think we are helping, connecting, or the right fit for your needs.
*Align with parents and violate your confidentiality

OUR STORY

Blueprint is a true FAMILY practice. John & Michele met working together at one of the largest IOP/PC treatment centers in NJ. They had been working alongside each other on the Adolescent team as friendly co-workers. During this time, their office romance began to bloom. (Jim and Pam, anyone?) John moved into the Public Relations side of the facility and Michele stepped into the Program Director role of the Child/Adolescent program. They started to talk about one day having their own mental health space “where you walk in and feel like you’re home” and would provide the absolute highest quality of mental health treatment. They discussed details down to the colors and smells of the space. In 2016, John left the facility and started Blueprint, while Michele stayed for another year in their Director of Clinical Outreach position while building her own practice in the evenings.

During this time, John, Michele & Toby were living in Somerville on Division Street. 73 West End had been up for sale for a while, Michele always eyeing it down because of the front porch. She called John one day and said “we should just take a look and check it out”, and then nine months later on Friday the 13th, closed on Blueprint’s home. At this time, Michele merged her practice with Blueprint, and Blueprint quickly grew and evolved. What started out as a stale doctor’s office with wood-paneled walls, old wallpaper, and carpets transformed into their vision. Taking down walls, staining hardwood floors, fresh paint all over with modern colors, and slowly room by room adding personal details, Blueprint was established. Now, as soon as you walk into the space, their vision comes to life- down to the smell in the diffuser.

John and Michele were fortunate that they had already formed solid relationships with local schools and the community from their previous roles. When they announced they now were “together” AND owners together of Blueprint, their practice quickly blew up. Slowly over time, they brought on long-term friends and colleagues and built a mental health powerhouse. They will only bring on clinicians that they trust, have a natural ability to connect with people, and are relatable AND clinically sound in their work. They are proud to say they have accomplished their vision- they created a mental health space “that feels like home” and provides the absolute highest quality of mental health treatment.

Fast forward to January 2023, Blueprint is now a proud team of 13 amazing humans and clinicians, and two pups- the VIPs, Toby & Charlie. Check out our team page to read about each one of our team members. While many places and work environments call themselves “a family atmosphere”, WE ACTUALLY ARE. We are a close-knit, cohesive treatment team who also all genuinely like each other, support each other, and are truly dedicated and invested in the work we all do here. That’s where high-quality care comes from.
